Designation of origin

Introduced onto the hills of the Roero in the early 1900s, the Barbera vine's hardiness and constant yield made it ideal as a replacement for many of the vineyards decimated by the phylloxera pest. Its matching of strength with finesse makes Barbera d'Alba a highly-prized wine, and the composition of the soil and the microclimate here produce an intensely bright red- coloured wine with delicate purple highlights, and a fresh, fragrant nose hinting at mint and vanilla. A big wine with good structure.
